A Day in the Life of Allan Heard…
“A huge amount of my time is put into my client relationship as this is crucial to our success. I have a great balance between the operation and the financial aspects of the site, allowing me a large amount of control over all areas.”

As a General Manger for Ampersand, Allan is responsible for ensuring that Kensington Palace meets its targets. With this level of responsibility, Allan has the freedom to run his unit as if it was his own business, a fact he considers one of the best parts of the job.

Allan has worked on wine estates, championship golf courses, banqueting venues and hotels. His first taste of the industry was in on-set film catering for a South African production. Every day he started work at 4am, catering for crews in remote rivers and rivers and forests around South Africa, creating an experience never to be forgotten.

Allan was aware of the experience and reputation of the senior management team at CH&Co and when the chance to join Ampersand as General Manager at Kensington Palace became available, it was an opportunity that he could not pass up.

In the past year alone, Allan has assisted at the Queen’s garden parties at Buckingham Palace, opened venues with the management team and had the opportunity to run and oversee a new contract catering venture for more than 2000 people.
